Zach hurt Hannah more than he could ever understand. Standing alone, it might have been seen as just some silly prank, but when you put it into the context of Hannah’s life at the time? It was fatal. Zach was the person who attempted to come comfort Hannah after Marcus had left it in their booth alone after their ‘date’. She ended up rejecting her too because of her over-emotional and paranoid state. To put it simply, that pissed him off. In his mind he was only trying to give her comfort. So for his revenge, Zach stole any kind notes that Hannah could have received in her classmates in her peer communications class. All the encouragement that could have made Hannah feel better about her life was all gone because of this one boy. Those compliments could have saved her life. Made her feel worth while.
Zach never meant to hurt Hannah. But he had a reputation to uphold, did he not? Zach has always been the type of person to over-analyse how people see him. If there was anything spread around school that could tarnish his reputation he would find the source of the rumour and tell them to make is disappear. Or else. Zach swears that he has self-diagnosed OCD when it comes to his reputation. When Hannah made a fool out of him at that restaurant, she made him seem like a loser and a creep. How was that fair? He hadn’t even done anything, right? So he had to get revenge, of course. So he took her notes with out realising what it meant to her. Finding out the effect that he had on Hannah’s state of mind made Zach feel horrible. He truly hates himself for what he did, but that doesn’t mean that he wants anyone off the list to hate him for it, too. So he’ll do whatever it takes to make sure that those tapes stay hidden.

Name: Tyler Down

“I feel sorry for you, Tyler. I do. Everyone else on these tapes, so far, must feel a little relieves. They came off as liars or jerks or insecure people lashing out at others. But your story, Tyler… it’s kind of creepy.”

Tyler is the textbook definition of a pervert. He’s the photographer for the school newspaper and yearbook, but he uses his camera for a lot more than just everyday pictures. Tyler took camp outside Hannah’s house and took pictures of her through the gaps in her blinds. Hannah discovered him by hearing the feint “click, click” of his camera, and ended up enlisting Courtney Crimsen’s help in getting back at him. They ended up putting on quite the… show for him, causing him to fall from his hiding place. But revenge wasn’t enough for her. These actions caused Hannah to feel unsafe, even in her own home. Her last safe haven. Now it went onto the list of places she could never feel comfortable along side school and Monet’s.

Tyler is basically the school nerd. He’s easily on his way to being valedictorian of his class and he takes that role with pride. If you ever say something with a minor incorrect part to it, he will pop up and correct you, even if he wasn’t a part of the conversation. Although intelligence is always a nice quality in someone, when they start to get obnoxious about it… that’s when it starts to get annoying. Most people have learnt to avoid him when they can, because if you ever get into a conversation with him, it’s pretty hard to get out of until he’s said as much as he possibly can. Tyler’s view on life is that if you disagree with one of his opinions, you are automatically wrong. That’s the end of it. No ifs, ands or buts. As you can probably tell, Tyler has a bit of a superiority complex. He thinks that he’s far better than anyone else in this stupid town and is obviously meant for more. He plans on leaving town and the idiots in it behind him as soon as that diploma is in his hand, and then he’ll be off to whatever Ivy League college that he chooses, because if you ever asked him, he’s obviously” going to get into them all. Being the school photographer was just another thing to add to his list of extra-circular activities, but it seems he’s taken to it a little much, and took the task a bit over the top.
